Preparations for the ZIMAA Gala for 2025 have gone a step up as Zimbabweans in New South Wales meet at this annual gathering to celebrate their rich culture,history,diversity, and honour outstanding achievers.
For ZIMAA Chair Oliver Maboreke, this is not an ordinary Gala.He reckons.” ZIMMA is turning 21 , it’s a milestone, and we appreciate the elders who bore this vision and set the foundations.”
As ZIMMA remembers its foundations, the organisation is also rebranding to align itself to the evolving needs of its diverse membership.
This year’s Gala set for the Catholic Club in Liverpool, Sydney will run under the theme: ZIMAA is Changing : Enhancing our cultural identity and sense of belonging.
” We have been focusing on strengthening families and making sure our youths become more active stakeholders,” Maboreke said.
He added that the organisation has made great strides to attract more members by introducing special membership discount perks programs, partnering with cooporates as they take a new strategic direction.
This year,Maboreke said they expect representatives from the Australian government to attend as well as members from the diplomatic community to Australia and a number of successful Zimbabwean Business people.
” As ZIMAA turns 21, there will be premium entertainment activities, the traditional Zimbabwe dishes, While a Business Expo will run concurrently “
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Embassy in Canberra will be looking to provide consular services during the week of the Gala to serve those needing passports, birth certificates, and other services. Members of the community are required to register their expression of interest for this service with the ZIMAA community engagement team.
The ZIMAA Annual Gala is the signature event for the Zimbabwean Community in New South Wales Australia and has been running for the past 4 years and this year 800 -1000 people are expected to attend this milestone 21st year event.
