Police warn Honda Fit old shape owners

Police have warned Honda Fit old shape owners to put extra security on their vehicles as it is now an easy target for car thieves who use universal keys to gain access.

In a statement following a car theft incident in Shurugwi, Sebanga Park Extension recently, Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, said criminals are now targeting the model.

“We… urge members of the public who own Honda Fit old shape motor vehicles to put security measures in place to safeguard their vehicles as criminals are targeting these vehicles because they have universal keys,” he said.

In the Shurugwi incident, Inspector Mahoko said a yellow Honda Fit, registration number AEW 2627, was stolen overnight.

He said the owner had parked the car in front of his house and woke up the following morning with the car gone.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case of a stolen motor vehicle which occurred in Sebanga Extension Shurugwi on 8 June 2023 at around 2000 hours.

“It is alleged that the complainant, a man aged 29 parked his yellow Honda Fit motor vehicle registration number AEW 2627 in front of his house.

“At about 2330 hours he retired to bed and woke up at around 0540 hours the next day and discovered that his motor vehicle was missing,” Inspector Mahoko said.

He appealed to members of the public who might have information on the whereabouts of the motor vehicle and the suspect(s) in the case to approach any police station.
