Govt forms task force to tackle drug abuse in marginalized communities

Minister Kazembe Kazembe of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage has announced the establishment of an inter-ministerial committee to combat the escalating drug and substance abuse crisis in marginalized communities. This committee, chaired by Hon. Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, comprises representatives from various ministries, religious groups, schools, law enforcement agencies, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders.
Minister Kazembe emphasized the need for a coordinated response, stating that drug and substance abuse is a multifaceted issue requiring a holistic approach that goes beyond law enforcement to address social, health, and community aspects.
The committee aims to reach all parts of the country, leveraging expertise and resources from marginalized areas to empower communities to take an active role in combating drug abuse, particularly among vulnerable populations. This collaborative effort seeks to tackle the drug abuse epidemic head-on and make a positive impact in affected communities.
