Government applauds Centre For Development

Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affair and Devolution, Owen “Mudha” Ncube has showered praises to Centre For Development Studies(CDS) for complimenting government’s efforts towards achieving education 5.0. Speaking on behalf of Minister Ncube at the fifteenth Annual Graduation Ceremony of the Centre For Development Studies, District Development Coordinator, Tarisai Mudadigwa hailed CDS for making uncompromising efforts towards achieving education 5.0.“I am informed that your college is a product of people who have worked tirelessly to register the institution with government authorities, to introduce Diploma courses across a wide range of areas of studies, and have managed to set up satellite centres around the country and we are proud to have CDS in Midlands province, because this is a milestone towards the devolution strategy,” he said, adding that he was proud that the institution’s demonstration of what we as Zimbabweans can do if we believe in ourselves. “I openly express my gratitude to all of you who have successfully completed your studies, and hope that you will be an encouragement to those who are following behind. If we believe in our abilities, and if we devote ourselves to the duty of patriotic service.The Minister said the gesture by CDS is demonstration of the fact that Zimbabweans are capable of doing great things as long as they get the right support. “The government of Zimbabwe is interested in the promotion of such indigenous institutions because they are developed in response to the actual needs of our society and our country. In that vein, CDS is proudly Zimbabwean and Zimbabweans must be proud of CDS,” he said. The Minister of State also applaud CDS for developing a curriculum (which incorporates Education 5.0) that is recognised by various organisations and companies in Zimbabwe.“I am informed that the majority of CDS graduands can proceed to various local universities to further their studies at Degree level. In this respect, I wish to encourage local universities to engage such private colleges as CDS to create synergies that will result in the establishment of an Associate Status,” he said.Centre for Development Studies Executive Director, Mandla Sibanda said a total of 85 graduates who excelled from various diploma courses. “Ours are not a mere graduation but a celebration for the accomplishment of which these students, attained throughout the year of 2023.The fact that our curriculum is research based make us come up with standard curriculum, not only in Zimbabwe but also meet international standards. So because of that we have our students who are going overseas using our certificates.Mr Sibanda also said they have created good relations with local Universities so that CDS graduates are able to be enrolled at various universities both in Zimbabwe, regionally and internationally.“As a result of this CDS becomes a feed institution to universities. I am happy about the magnitude of recognition. Our students are being employed and promoted in new nogovernment departments, public services,various organisations and companies,”he said.
