A-24-year old woman was on Sunday evening (26 March 2023) robbed of valuables worth US$200 before being stripped naked and thrown off a white Honda Fit vehicle at Claybank traffic circle.

The unsuspecting woman boarded a White Honda Fit at Cathedral bus stop around 9pm on her way to Shurugwi.

The vehicle had four male occupants including the driver, two of them were at the boot.

Upon reaching the Claybank traffic circle, the two occupants at the boot jumped to the back seat where the complainant was seated and bashed her with an iron bar on the forehead.

They took all her valuables, including the clothes she was wearing before pushing her off the vehicle and speeding towards Shurugwi.

Midlands Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the case, saying the suspects are still at large and yet to be identified.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a Robbery case in which a 24 year old woman from Shurugwi was robbed of cash and property worth US$200.

“…It is alleged that the complainant boarded a white Honda fit at Cathedral bus stop in
Gweru intending to go to Shurugwi.

“…Upon reaching Clay Bank roundabout, Gweru, two male adult
passengers jumped from the boot and they sat at the back seat beside the
complainant.

“One of them hit complainant on the forehead with an iron bar and took her Itel P38 cell phone, a bag containing various clothes, cash US$80 and the clothes she was wearing before pushing her out of the vehicle and driving towards Shurugwi,” Inspector Mahoko said.

After being dumped, the woman walked to Gweru Provincial Hospital naked where she then got assistance with clothes.

Inspector Mahoko appealed to the public who might have information that may lead to the arrest of the four suspects to inform the nearest police station.

He also warned against boarding private cars.

“We also urge the public to board public service vehicles as they appear
to be safer than Mushikashika vehicles,” he said.
