Mvuma woman kills newly born twins

A 40-year-old woman from Mvuma in Midlands Province, Zimbabwe has been arrested for infanticide after she allegedly killed her new born baby twins and deposited the bodies in a bin.
The incident happened in Mushayavhudzi residential suburb, Mvuma on the 23 of March at 600hrs.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuael Mahoko said the woman allegedly killed the children after giving birth alone in her bedroom and decided to kill the bouncing babies. The suspect is not married.
According Insp. Mahoko, a passer-by who were walking along the street near the woman’s residence, saw a crowd of people gathered and informed the police.
“Nyarai Swatch is being investigated with the case and is at Mvuma Hospital under police guard”
“It is suspected that she gave birth alone in a room to two male babies and killed them before placing them in a plastic bin at her residence during early hour on the day in question.
A post-mortem has since been done on the two bodies and were await burial.
Mahoko urged couples to have planned pregnancies.
“It is critical that people should have planned pregnancies which usher babies that they are happy with and take care of them.
“Children are gifts from God and parents should feel happy to look after them. Ending a life is a serious offence and sin,” said Insp. Mahoko.
