A Gweru woman, Agatha Madokero was hit by a train while walking along the railway line.
The incident happened on Monday 11th of December 2023 in the afternoon.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed.
“Yes, a report of sudden death where a 28 year old woman was hit by a train while walking along a railway line in Gweru on Monday 11th of December 2023 at about 1330hours,”he said.
Inspector Mahoko further confirmed having gathered that Agatha Madokero a female aged 28 years of Riverside in Gweru was walking along the railway line when she was hit by a train and died on the spot.
“Investigations into the incident indicate that she was putting on earphones which distracted her from the surroundings leading to this tragic incident,”Insp. Mahoko said.
He appeal to members of the public to avoid using gadgets that distract their attention to curb such tragic incidents.
