UK considers closing care worker visa schemes

As immigration issues take centre stage,the UK government is mooting the closing of temporary visas for care workers. The New Conservatives , former Home Secretary Suella Braverman and ex Prime Minister Boris Johnson have called on government to stop the visa program.

Numbers from the Home Office show that visas granted in the year ending September 2023 was 143,990 twice the previous year’s figure of 61 ,274 with Nigeria, India and Zimbabwe topping the list of the visa recipients.

Under pressure, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak recently told British media that net migration levels are too high.
