Thornhill High recently held an event at the school to raise school fees for vulnerable pupils under the Interact club.

Funds raised on the day were enough to pay school fees, buy uniforms and other necessities and identify more needy students
Interact is a Thornhill High School student initiative fighting drug abuse, sexual indulgence and crime among the youths especially the teenagers by funding education and creating sustainable projects for youths at the school and around the country.

The event was focusing on raising funds for vulnerable pupils so as to send them to school to achieve their dreams as this will help in curbing the rising rate of drug abuse, early pregnancy and crime among youths.
Speaking at the event, the Thornhill High School Deputy Head, Sharai Sibanda hailed the initiative.
“ I just want to thank the Leos and Interactors of Thornhill High School for this gesture, welldone The fundraising is meant to empower a disadvantaged academically talented rural pupil, Silent Moyo from Mkoba Primary School in Lower Gweru,” she said.

Ms Sibanda said the school adopted Silent in 2016 after they visited the school and and heard her plight.
“ It was in 2016 there about, when we heard that the brilliant child who lost both parents was staying with the great grandmother. The school authority informed informed us that the although the boy was intelligent, he came to school barefooted and has a long history of not paying fees”

Sibanda said it is then that as a school they decided to adopt the student and will continue to pay for fees up to university.
Interact Chairperson; Sharon Mabvumba said it has since become their culture to help others to help themselves.
“I thank everyone who participated and supported our cause. I am glad to see this success; it took our time planning for this. Thanks to all people who made it here today, “she said
