It was a walk in the park for former Premier Soccer League outfit, TelOne FC, as they walloped visitors and division one newbies, Amazon FC, 5-0 in the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Division One Soccer League played on Saturday (30/02023) at Ascot Stadium in Gweru.

Experience and discipline on the part of the home team, TelOne FC, saw them scoring 3 goals past the visitors going into half time.

The first goal came in the 10th minute, the second in the 39th while the third came just a minute before the end of the first half, in the 44th.

It could have been four nil had it not been for a disallowed goal (offside) just 6 minutes into the game for TelOne FC.

Amazon played a little better in the second half with improved ball possession and marking, but it was not enough stop the Wifi Boys, as TelOne FC is known, from adding more goals on the score board.

TelOne’s fourth goal came in the 84th minute while the last goal was scored in the 90th minute.

After losing points in games prior to the match, TelOne FC gaffer Jacob Muzokomba said he was happy with the win and the way his team played.

“Today I am very happy with my boys, they played a good game, better than last week.

“In terms of possession, we dominated the first half; in the second half we were a bit down but the boys played according to instructions,” he said.

Though having played as a team, Muzokomba acknowledged the exploits of Blessing Sahondo and Tafadzwa Sibanda who he said came through for the team and exhibited their talent coming in in the first lineup, unlike in the previous encounter where they came in as substitutes and failed to change the game.

Amazon coach, Vincent Moyo, blamed late coming and failure to warm up for the dismal performance of his boys, at the same time acknowledging good play by TelOne FC.

“We didnt play well. Point number one, we came late, then failed to warm up and went straight to the game.

“The result is bad but the opposition played very well,” Moyo said.

He said in the second half Amazon FC changed the game plan and formations which turned out better than the first half.

The Wifi Boys face FC Platinum Under 19s in their next encounter in Zvishavane where Muzokomba said they are expecting a tough match.

“I hope the boys will carry on from where they left off today. We are going back to the drawing board at training, we have been down in our last three games and we know we are going to have a tough match in Zvishavane,” he said.
