Polokwane – A-22-year-old male suspect was, on Friday, November 15, 2024, arrested for allegedly raping two minor children in Vhembe District at around 5pm.
The two minors, aged 4 and 3, are from Mafukani village and we’re under their mother’s care.
A police report from the South African Police Service (SAPS) said the two victims’ mother was home when the suspect took advantage of a nearby bush to lure the minors.
The mother noticed suspicious movements from one of the minors and followed.
“…she noticed her child going to the bushes, and she became suspicious, followed her, and found her with other children,” SAPS’s Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said in a statement.
The mother then observed that the suspect was sexually assaulting one of the children and confronted him.
“She then asked him as to what he was doing, after which he fled the scene,” Colonel Ledwaba said.
The suspect appeared before Mutale Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 18, 2024, facing charges of two counts of rape.
