Society urged to recognise disabled people

Elvis Musirinofa who is the founder and executive director of Amor Zimbabwe Trust recently said disability is not inability because persons with disability are also human beings and they need to be recognized in their societies at large.


He told this reporter that their aim as Amor Zimbabwe trust is to protect and promote the rights and welfare of people living with disabilities and vulnerable groups in Zimbabwe.
“As Amor Zimbabwe trust our aim is to protect and promote the rights and welfare of people living with disabilities and vulnerable groups in Zimbabwe so that they will know their potential” said Musirinofa


During an interview with this publication ,the founder of Amor Zimbabwe Trust said people living with disability are able to bring change to their societies, so there is need to educate the society on wrong misconception of people living with disability for them to be recognize society.


Musirinofa said their vision as AMOR Zimbabwe is to create a developed inclusive society in which the marginalized and disabled persons can have equal rights and opportunities as everyone because these people are facing discrimination from their societies and Zimbabwe at large.


Musirinofa said there is need for organization who are into disabilities to redress historical imbalances in terms of access to resources because people living with disabilities are facing challenges in accessing resources for example people living with disability have difficulties to access contraceptive pills.
He further said that there is need to promote sustainable developed communities through the provision of quality care and disability sexual reproductive services because these people are being disadvantaged especially on their sexual reproductive services as some of them are not allowed to date or marry because people think that they are worsening the burden to them since disabled persons are regarded as not able to work for themselves so they will be trying to cut some cost of that burden .


Public relations officer of Amor Zimbabwe Caleb Ngwarati further added to what was said by Musirinofa when he said the communities should understand that disabled people are not less human and they should help them to get all the services such as quality health, education, food and employment
Gwarati told this reporter that there is need to economically empower and create employment for people with disabilities through projects and other technical practical and this can help to bring development to the nation.


He even said that as Amor Zimbabwe they are trying their best to fulfill their mandate.
