“The MP went into different wards and conscientized people to participate in developmental issues of their constituency instead of waiting for government and council to do it for them. Hence, he led by example by embracing the Public Private Partnership approach that happened to bear fruits. People now have water close to their vicinity, it’s quite commendable,” said Mubereki.
The humble MP thanked people from all benefited wards for their voluntary gesture that resulted in their actively participation during the borehole repairing program. He encouraged the villagers to continue with their volunteering gesture which he said are essential to the successful implementation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision.
Since his ascendence into office, Honourable Mhuri has been responsive to volunteer-led community initiatives and this approach seems to be working well for him and constituency.
The legislator has also been praised by civic and community organisations for recognising the value of efficient legislation, policies, structures and for establishing structures to enable more people to voluntary community work.
In a telephone interview, community development activist and Khayelihle Rural library secretary Nkosilathi Sayi applauded the legislator Mhuri for ensuring availability of water.
“His beginning is good; he however should not end there but should go further and work towards sustainable management of the availed water in order to ensuring safe water and sanitation for all, “said Sayi.
The defunct Dorset development Association member who declined to be identified MP Mhuri should as well train all those volunteers and see to it that they are active in maintaining of the repaired boreholes and ensuring water sources are clean.
