Shock as 17yo NSW girl stabs 10yo sister to death

Residents of Boolaroo, 20 km from Newcastle in NSW woke up in shock as a 17 year old girl stabbed her 10 year old sister to death, Lake Macquarie police Commander Tracy Chapman confirmed to reporters on Tuesday.
Police described the act as “unthinkable” and taking place without warning.
Emergency services rushed to a home on Thurston Street in Boolaroo, 20 kilometres south-west of Newcastle, after receiving a triple-zero call on Monday afternoon. A 10-year-old girl was found inside with multiple stab wounds to her upper body area and died at the scene, Lake Macquarie commander, Superintendent Tracy Chapman, said on Tuesday.
The girl’s 17-year-old sister was arrested and has been charged with domestic violence-related murder.
“We will allege she was solely responsible for the death of the 10-year-old,” homicide squad commander Danny Doherty told reporters outside Belmont police station.
He said it was “unthinkable that this could happen” and that it was now a “very sensitive investigation.”while the juvenile remains in police custody until the court date.
