Mberengwa School Teacher On The Run After Alleged Sodomy

Mberengwa, Zimbabwe – A teacher at Masase High School in Mberengwa, Midlands Province, has gone into hiding after being accused of sodomizing a student.
The Lutheran Church-run school confirmed the incident in a letter to parents and guardians, stating that the matter has been reported to the police and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
In the letter, school head, one A. Masukume, expressed deep sorrow over the allegations, assuring parents that thorough investigations are underway.
“The alleged victim was taken to hospital swiftly and was examined by a medical doctor. A police report was filed with the Victim Friendly Unit at Mberengwa Charge Office the same day,” the letter reads.
The school has promised to update parents on the findings once the investigations are concluded.
Meanwhile, Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko stated that he was yet to receive the report, requesting any available information on the matter.
