Gweru model, Scholasticah Tendai Makoni, wrote her own piece of history when she was crowned Miss Midlands Show 2023 after outshining 7 other models who participated in the pageant finals held recently at the Midlands Show ground on a Sunday.
Makoni aged 20, who braved stiff competition from a horde of elegant beauties who were determined to clinch the coveted prize emerged the winner on the night. The pageant was sponsored to the tune of US$1 500 courtesy of Jet, Steak n Chips and Midlands Show.
Speaking at the prize giving ceremony on Tuesday, the event coordinator, Lyod Mudonhi thanked Jet stores for dressing the models and steak and chips sponsored prizes in form of Laptops and phones.
Scholasticah was crowned the winner while Natalie Kutamirepi was the first runner-up.Kunani Cecil Matemba was crown King, Mr Midlands Show 2023. Other winnwer were Winnet Sungai -Miss culture, Zoe Chabururuka -2nd Princess, Drew Lordshare – Mr culture, -1st was Princess and Hilary Chinobva- 2nd Princes.
“I’m honoured and heartfelt with joy. Grabbing this title has been a great achievement to me being a brand ambassador do the Name Midlands show is a great deal to me,” said the queen Makoni.
The king Mr Gweru, Matema expressed the same sentiments adding that he couldn’t believe it. However thanking the Midlands show for the opportunity.
Speaking at the event, Executive Exhibits and Judges Chairperson, Hudson Mabika urged the winners to safeguard their titles and not put the show into disrepute.
“We are overwhelmed that the show has been a success and the beauty pageant has become more prevalent, indicating greater achievement,” he said
The event was successful and got support from the sponsored. All the girls and boys delivered a great show and were well prepared. Everything went on according to the plans and came out just as we expected.
