Midlands Land Development giant, River valley Properties (RVP), which has a long record of changing the narrative of different communities through their various social responsibility interventions, recently, went an extra mile, promising to rollout scholarships amongst models a senior company official has said.
Speaking at a breakfast meeting held for the 2023 Miss Gweru participants, RVP chief executive officer Dr Smelly Dube, said the move was aimed at encouraging models to pursue their education.
“River valley Properties corporate social responsibility programmes started to take a strategic perspective in the 1990s. Since then, we have employed a profound history of partnerships with communities through our vibrant corporate social responsibility policy.
“Under this policy, numerous local and national community projects have been founded in key utilities such as education, health, the environment, infrastructure and provision of clean water.
“River valley Properties is cognisant of the finite nature of the land it exploits, and thus, we desire to establish sustainable projects that will last long after platinum mines are exhausted.
“This thrust, underpinned by our vision of investing beyond construction, has seen us engage in a number of projects across sectors,” said the company.
Apart from modeling, Dr Dube who was once a model urged the contestants to go into entrepreneurship as well as pursuing their studies. Her company, she said would offer more scholarships to those who want to pursue their education.
Her speech was evidenced by the academic bursary the company recently awarded to the 2023 Miss Gweru Queen, Diana Moyo, a Form 4 student at Harvard College who is currently writing her examinations. She will benefit from the bursary in 2024.
Moyo and other Miss Gweru pageants also received gifts from the property developer worth hundreds of dollars. The models will also have make up and nails done at Sisters Beauty Parlour.
Miss Gweru Queen Moyo said “I am happy with the recognition by RVP and that would help me challenge fellow models to pursue their education.
Miss Gweru founder Mavis Koslek who equally thanked RVP said Moyo would represent Midlands at the Miss Zimbabwe Pageant.
River valley Properties’s vision is to uplift society by investing beyond construction through engaging in corporate social responsibility programmes.
Through their social responsibility interventions, River valley Properties, has ploughed back to various communities, schools, correctional service institution, health institutions, empowered people with disabilities, and assisted in the provision of potable water and sanitation.
River Valley Properties’ importance to the wellbeing of the nation cannot be overemphasized.
