Renowned Author Ndabezihle Sigogo’s Niece Makes History with 100% Pass Rate

SHURUGWI- Hilder Mangena, nee Sigogo, the niece of the late veteran Ndebele author Ndabezihle Sigogo, has made history by achieving a remarkable 100% pass rate in the recent Ndebele examinations at Dorset Primary School, a farming community school owned by the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
The outstanding feat is a testament to Sigogo’s unwavering dedication, innovative teaching methods, and unrelenting passion for education.
As a proud descendant of a literary legend, Hilder has proven that the Sigogo family’s legacy of excellence extends far beyond the realm of literature.
Her remarkable achievement has sent shockwaves of excitement throughout the educational community, with many hailing her as a role model for teachers everywhere.
“Dorset Primary School is incredibly proud of Hilder Sigogo’s achievement, which reflects our school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence,” said the school’s deputy head, Nonhlanhla Manomano, during a speech and prize-giving ceremony where Sigogo’s remarkable achievement was appaluded.
The 2024 Dorset Primary School grade 7 class, comprising 98 students who three classes sat for the grade 7 examinations.
Notably, 25 students, under Sigogo’s guidance, sat for the Ndebele exams and passed with flying colors, achieving a 100% pass rate.
This impressive feat was followed closely by the Shona language, which achieved a pass rate of 91.55%, and Physical Education, which achieved a pass rate of 78.12%.
Several of Sigogo’s students and their parents have expressed their deepest gratitude and admiration for her tireless efforts, which have made a profound impact on their lives. Her ability to motivate and inspire her students has been hailed as a key factor in her remarkable success.
“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to learn from Maam Sigogo,” said Delight Ndlovu, one of Sigogo’s students.
“She is an exceptional teacher who always goes the extra mile to ensure that we understand the material. We are grateful for her dedication and passion for teaching.”
Another student, Nomqele Ncube, added, “Madam Sigogo is more than just a teacher; she is a mentor and a role model. She has instilled in us a love for learning and a desire to succeed. We are proud to have her as our teacher.”
Nkosilathi Mtunzi , a parent, expressed her gratitude to Sigogo, saying, “We are grateful for Mrs. Sigogo’s tireless efforts in ensuring that our children receive the best education possible. Her dedication and passion for teaching are evident in the outstanding results achieved by her students. We are proud to have her as a part of our school community.”

Hilder Sigogo is a distinguished educator and published author, with her works featured in the acclaimed anthology “Kalivikwa”, curated by Siphosami Ndlovu and published by Dream Discovery Publishers. Born on October 21, 1968, in Nyamandlovu in Tsholotsho, Sigogo graduated with a diploma in 2005 from the University of Zimbabwe College of Education (UCE). As a proud product of the community, Sigogo’s alma mater, Dorset Primary School, a farming community school nestled in the heart of the Seventh Day Adventist Church’s farming community, is situated in Shurugwi South Ward 21, within the Shurugwi South Constituency.
