Redcliff Mayor ‘ s Christmas Cheer fund 2022 raised about USD 20 000 which was used for both monetary and material donations to assist the vulnerable people .
The Mayor ‘s Cheer Fund is a yearly tradition done by the city council in a bid to donate to the vulnerable people who include people living with disability, the orphans, elderly people as well Gender Based Violence victims.
Redcliff Mayor Clayton Masiyatsva said that the Mayor’s cheer Fund was managed by a board with the objective of resource mobilization.
‘The Mayor’s Christmas cheer fund was driven by a vibrant Board under the leadership of a man of God, Apostle Pande of the Worship House Church. The board comprised of the following, Municipality of Redcliff, Livetouch,Pacster Cement, ZIMCHEM Refineries, Pastor’s fraternity, Lamcast and STEELMAKERS. The overall objective is resource mobilization and allocation of resources to identified vulnerable members of the community,’ said Masiyatsva.
He added that 100 food hampers were distributed .Their 2022-2023 theme was Promoting Pro- poor growth .
‘ We are glad that this year we managed to distribute 100 food hampers of basic commodities to assist the vulnerable. Each hamper included mealie meal , cooking oil, washing soap and rice,’ he said.
‘The Christmas Cheer fund has since partnered with Redcliff lions Club and our Local Musician populary known as Jar bless of YEDU lifestyle in a view to fund raise for the disabled,’ he added.
Besides assisting the vulnerable with food, the Cheer Fund will also assist in education, sports and infrastructure development.
‘We are also planning to pay school fees for 100 vulnerable students and also to pay school fees for 15 sponsored students .Sanitation for school children is a necessity so we will help to build toilets for George Hill Primary School. will also assisting in building the dining room Rutendo Old people ‘ s home ,’
‘ Redcliff is also doing well in sports so we will also buy uniforms for soccer teams. We are proud of our Redcliff boxing team we will also do something for them to notice that their effort is not in vain,’ he said.
