Police hunt for ‘multiple land fraudster’

Police in Gweru have launched a manhunt for an alleged “multiple -land fraudster “ who sold residential stands to home seekers next to woodlands park on the outskirts of the city.

Jameson Museke who is the surviving director allegedly sold land belonging to Greynut to an unknown number of unsuspecting land seekers who paid in instalments.

Midlands police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said scores of his victims have since reported being defrauded by Museke between February 2018 and 2021.

“It is alleged that sometime in February 2018, the victims paid various amounts ranging from US$485 to $7690 being installments for residential stands from Greynut Investments, a company which sells residential stands in Gweru. The company was jointly owned by Jameson Museke and Isaiah Mudzengi,” he said.

It is further alleged that sometime in 2021, the core-director Isaiah Mudzengi passed on. The victims only came to know their fate when they made a follow up of their stands with the company. A number of customers who claim to have paid various amounts towards the purchase of stands were told that the company does not have stands for them.
A report was made to the police and the surviving director Jameson Museke is still at large.

Police are appealing to those with information that may assist in locating and arresting Jameson Museke to pass it to Gweru Central Police or any nearest police station.
Greynut Investments was founded and registered in 2018 by the late Mr Isaiah Mudzengi who was also a director of the company. The Founder of the company, Mr Mudzengi was the owner of the 600 hectares, Bucks Farm which houses Greynut Park.

The company had a well-established clientele base and was running smoothly before the death of Mr Mudzengi.
The company which according to its website catered for low to medium income home seekers and civil servants claimed had over 1000 clients from ZESA, ZIMALLOYS, Z.D.F, ZIMPLATS and ZIMNAT.
