Gweru-The sun shone brightly on a memorable day at Mkoba Teachers College as the institution celebrated the graduation of 406 students, with a keen focus on two exceptional individuals who emerged as beacons of academic excellence. Arlly Muridzi and Tatenda Gwenhere captivated the audience during the graduation ceremony with their inspiring stories of perseverance, hard work, and unwavering support from their families, illuminating the path for future educators.
The graduation ceremony, held under the theme “Heritage Inspired, Technologically Empowered: The Future of Education,” took place in a vibrant atmosphere that celebrated both cultural roots and the integration of modern educational practices.Among the graduates, Arlly Muridzi, who completed the Primary Education general course, stood out by achieving four distinctions and being named the best overall student.Meanwhile, Tatenda Gwenhere, who excelled in the Secondary Education general course, earned five distinctions and received the honor of being the best overall student in his category.

“I’m so grateful to have completed my diploma in Primary Education and above all for being the best overall student,” Muridzi stated, her voice filled with emotion.“I would like to give special credit to my sister who supported me throughout this journey and I believe this trophy belongs to her.I would also like to give special regards to the college for supporting me in this journey.” Her words resonated with the audience, highlighting the importance of family and community in the pursuit of education.
Tatenda Gwenhere’s story was equally compelling.As a student in the Secondary Education general course, he faced numerous challenges, including financial issues and the pressures of balancing work and study.However, his determination to succeed propelled him forward.Earning five distinctions in subjects such as Teaching Practice, Pure Mathematics, and Chemistry, Gwenhere emerged not just as a top student but as a symbol of tenacity.
“I would like to give my thanks to the college for helping me to achieve my education,” Gwenhere shared, reflecting on his journey since enrolling in 2022.“I got motivation from other students and support from my family, especially my sister Blessing Gwenhere.It was not an easy journey; I had some challenges like financial issues and failure to manage work under pressure, but with the grace of God, I’m here.”
