Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Justice Priscilla Chigumba says once the country’s President has proclaimed the election dates, nothing short of an earthquake can stop the election.
Chigumba told the State media that whatever issues candidates and opposition parties have against the voters roll cant stop the election once the president has announced the dates, adding that aggrieved parties can use whatever issues they have as evidence to challenge the outcome of the poll.
Her response comes as several senior opposition figures have raised concerns on the state of the voters roll with some crying foul after missing names on the roll.
Zimbabwe goes to the poll on the 23 August this year after President Mnangagwa announced the dates last week.
