Oliver Maboreke has been nominated as a finalist for this year’s Zim Achievers Australia Awards in the category Community champion of the year. Below we feature his profile.
Oliver Zvinaiye MABOREKE -JP, is the current Zimbabwean Community in Australia NSW, Events Coordinator. He is an International Project and Event management practitioner working in the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. He holds a double Master’s degree in international project planning and Event management and is currently studying for an MBA Business Leadership & Corporate Governance.
He also owns and runs his own Event management and Social Entrepreneurial consultancy business, Ahava Global Links. In addition Oliver brought these skills to pioneer the ZIMAA Gala dinner a flagship annual Zimbabwean community event . Oliver is also a gospel musician with 4 albums releases to date and run his own unique international gospel brand movement called Ahava Praise which brings together several international community stakeholders.
A passionate community advocate, Oliver has held various positions over the years including Victorian Zim Community Engagement officer, Western Sydney Unity Refugee, New and Emerging Communities Project Officer, Victoria Department of Premier & Cabinet Community Engagement officer, African Think Tank board member. Currently Oliver is a ZEST NSW Multicultural Ambassador through the Western Sydney Community Forum and seats on various multicultural committees in NSW to promote and advocate for multicultural communities particularly those from Refugee, New and Emerging communities. Oliver is also a passionate soccer coach who coaches at his local club in the Blacktown LGA and has also previously successfully coached the ZIMVIC FC team from Victoria winning several from ZimPride competitions during his tenure. The team consisted of young people from across spectrum of the community and was built on the foundations to promote and empower young people make informed decisions to contribute safely to the wider community.
Oliver also a pioneered the Victorian Shona/Ndebele language School initiative at its inception a few years ago. Over the years, Ohe has dedicated himself selflessly to improving his local community his church FIFMI, ZIMAA as well as other government and NGOs. He is a true believer of the Ubuntu concept that I am because, we are and is also driven by his belief in God and his Christian faith to propagate love for all humanity.
