NCDPZ Board Returns Sen. Shiri as President

National Council of Disabled Persons in Zimbabwe NCDPZ, on Friday voted to restore former senator, Annah Shiri to her former Presidential position.
Shiri was returned to her office as President of the organisation which she was voted to succeed former President Mrs Farai Cherera who passed on at the peak of COVID.
The NCDPZ, quickly elevated Sen. who was vice president to complete Cherera’s term as president until the next election, which was held on Friday 5 May 2023 at Mkoba Teachers’ College
Gweru based Shiri pounced based Trymore Magwaza from Harare. She polled 81 votes defeating Magwaza who gannered 15 votes.
Augustine Wozheri ( Mash West) Vice President Development position, Vongai Chichevo ( Masvingo) Vice president gender, Leornard Marange (Harare) secretary, Elliot Mujaji (Midlands) Vice Secretary, Phathani Mlalazi (Harare) Treasurer and Peter Paradza ( Mash West) was voted Youth representative position.

Senator Shiri, said she would focus on the organisation’s strategy on growth orientation, innovation, membership drive, resource mobilisation, stakeholder centricity, service quality and unity of purpose under her tenure.

“This will see us fulfilling our core mandate of strengthening the role of Persons with Disabilities in human rights reporting, monitoring and advocacy, uniting members and people with disability members towards a Zimbabwean society where all people are treated with equality, dignity and respect for their expressed choices, and who have equal opportunities to participate in a society where abilities, rather than disabilities, are recognized.
“Organising and managing self-help projects, programs and events aimed at stimulating inclusion of People with Disabilities. Empowering members so that they embark on various economic empowerments that is manufacturing, industry and commerce,” she said.
Sen. Shiri said during her tenure she will be placing special emphasis on delivering outstanding PWDs value, building a strong national and international network, productivity and investing in NCDPZ facilities and services.
