Mob Justice Turns Deadly in Gokwe Night Club Brawl

Gokwe, Zimbabwe – A violent altercation at a night club in Gokwe Centre has resulted in the death of a yet-to-be-identified man, who was attacked by a mob after stabbing a woman in the chest.
According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of June 29, 2024, at Puzza Dollar Night Club.
The deceased, whose identity remains unknown, was involved in a misunderstanding with a female patron, identified as Joyce Mafa (37), which escalated into violence.
Resultantly, the man stabbed Mafa in the chest with a knife, and she was rushed to Gokwe Hospital where she is currently admitted.
The attacker then fled the scene, but was pursued by a group of patrons who were angered by his actions.
They caught up with him approximately 400 meters away and assaulted him severely, leaving him unconscious.
The man was later pronounced dead upon arrival at Gokwe Hospital.
Preliminary investigations by police revealed that the deceased had suffered a deep stab wound on his back and was bleeding from the mouth.
Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident, urging members of the public to refrain from resorting to violence to solve crimes.
He also asked for public assistance with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
“We appeal to members of the public not to resort to violence to solve crime.
“Anyone seen or suspected to have committed a crime must be reported to the police,” he said, before adding that, “We urge anyone with information that may assist in the identification of the suspects and the deceased to come forward and assist the police in our investigations.”
