Gweru, Zimbabwe – The 98th edition of the Midlands Agricultural Show, which began yesterday (Thursday, August 22) has shifted its traditional Saturday fireworks showdown to Sunday, accompanied by promising and exciting lineup of entertainment, Kwedu News can reveal.

The traditional Saturday evening fireworks display has been moved to the last day of the show, Sunday, a move aimed at boosting attendance on a typically slower day.

Lloyd Mudonhi, responsible for entertainment at the Midlands Show, acknowledged that fireworks are a major crowd-puller, especially among children and some adults, and shifting the display to Sunday is an attempt to attract foreworks fans to attend the show on a day that usually sees lower attendance.

Sunday’s festivities will also feature car burnouts, a new addition to the show’s entertainment lineup.

The Midlands Show has evolved from its origins as a showcase for farming produce to include the business community, and this year’s edition promises something for everyone with over 123 exhibitors recorded a day before the show.

Afro-pop and Zimdancehall giant musician, Killer T, is set to perform on Saturday, while several other entertainment acts will be featured throughout the show.

Sheasham Investments Director Clever Mandaza will be the guest of honor to officially open the show on Saturday and present trophies for the winners.

A business conference will also be held at the Fairmile Regency Group Hotel today (Friday August 23).

The 2024 edition of the Midlands Show is being held under the theme “Strategic Innovation for Economic Growth.”

The Midlands Show Society President, Augustine Mpakurirwa, expressed excitement for the upcoming event, promising an unforgettable experience for attendees.
