A Gweru man who tried to enjoy his day in style by fondling the breasts of a TK Special bar lady was on Monday sentenced to 4 months’ imprisonment by a Gweru resident magistrate.
Milton Chimedza (27) of Mkoba 16 in Gweru however went scot-free after the 4months imprisonment sentence were wholly suspended by magistrate Beaulity Dube, considering an expressive pardon by the complainant on her victim impact statement.
According to the State prosecutor Christine Shoniwa, Chimedza committed the offense on 25 June this year inside TK Special bar in Mkoba, Gweru Kariba and at around 3pm when he went to the till point to buy beer.
Chimedza, who was said to be drunk when he committed the crime, started fondling the bar lady’s breasts without her consent. When the complainant who is not named to protect her went outside, the accused Chimedza followed and fondled her again outside the bar.
The court was told Milton continued to extend his hand and fondled the complainant’s breast despite the bar lady’s expression of displeasure concerning his abusive action.
The complainant attempted to reason with Milton in a calm manner, urging him to cease his behaviour. However, Milton refused to listen and instead pursued the complainant outside the bar, where he proceeded to fondle her for the second time, despite her clear discomfort and objections
“When you drink beer, learn to behave other you will rot in prison. I hope you have learnt a lesson by spending a weekend in prison. Don’t take advantage of women. I sentence you 4 months in prison, wholly suspended for five years on condition that you do not commit a similar offence in the next five years,” said Magistrate Dube.
