Man almost knifed to death over previous assault grudge

A-25-year old man from Shurugwi escaped death by a whisker on the 1st of December 2023 after being stabbed twice by a Columbia knife over a previous assault incident grudge.
The suspect in the case, only identified as Tocky, who was on a revenge mission, found the victim Norest Chipanera of Railway Block (RB) Magomero in Shurugwi having a drink with other patrons at Coconut tuck shops.
Upon arrival, Tocky is said suddenly produced a knife, stabbed Chipanera twice and left him for dead.
Chipanera was taken to Shurugwi Police by a well wisher, before being referred to Shurugwi District Hospital where he is currently admitted.
Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said police are hunting for the suspect, Tocky, appealing to members of the public who may have information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect.
Inspector Mahoko said the incident happened around 2 pm and the suspect is being charged with attempted murder.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a case of attempted murder where a man escaped death by a whisker after he was stabbed with a knife of a long outstanding grudge.
“The incident occurred on 1 December 2023 around 1400 hours, at Coconut Tuckshops, RB Magomero area in Shurugwi,” Inspector Mahoko said.
He said the motive behind the stabbing is a previous assault incident where the suspect, Tocky, says he was beaten by the victim, Chipanera.
“The suspect only known as Tocky suddenly arrived, armed with a Columbia knife and stabbed him twice, alleging that he was revenging an assault on him which occurred in 2022.
“After committing the offence the suspect fled leaving the complainant lying on the ground,” Inspector Mahoko said.
