In a shocking incident of homosexuality that has left the Dema community in the Mashonaland East Province of Zimbabwe under Chief Seke dumbfounded, a 35-year-old member of the apostolic sect, “Madzibaba”, was arrested, charged, and found guilty of indecently assaulting a 16-year-old boy.
The case, which has left the community reeling, will see the so-called “man of God” sentenced on Monday, 10 June 2024 at the Chitungwiza Magistrate Courts.
Revelations into the queer incident say the Madzibaba preyed on his neighbour teen’s trust, luring him into his home with promises of spiritual guidance.
But instead, he locked him in and subjected his unsuspecting victim to a horrific ordeal, playing pornographic videos and forcibly touching his private parts.
“On the 1st of February 2024, the accused person, who is a member of an apostolic sect, went and told the complainant that he had seen something concerning him in the spiritual realm, so he needed to pray for him,” the court heard.
“He took the complainant to his house, where he ordered him to sit on the bed. He played pornographic videos on his phone before he started touching the complainant’s manhood.
“The complainant asked if that was part of the prayers, and he ordered him to keep quiet. He forcibly took the complainant’s hand and put it on his manhood, but the complainant removed it.
“He removed his clothes and started rubbing his manhood with the complainant’s, while pulling down the complainant’s shorts.”
The victim, who was left traumatized, escaped after a phone call.
Despite the Madzibaba begging the boy to lie that they were praying, the teen reported the incident to his mother, leading to the Madzibaba’s arrest and conviction.
“The accused person put his manhood between the complainant’s thighs and stopped when the complainant’s phone rang.
“The complainant took the house keys, which were on the floor, unlocked the door, and left.
“The accused person followed him and instructed him to tell his mother that they were praying. The complainant, however, got home and narrated his ordeal to his mother,” the court heard.
