Ndhlovu urges leaders to promote youth participation in democratic processes

Polite Ndhlovu the programs manager of Zimbabwe Organization for Youth in Politics (ZOYP) said that there is need to raise awareness on youth participation in democratic processes of Zimbabwe especially during this coming elections.
Ndhlovu said that as a youth organization working with young people they have discovered that there is still more work to be done in raising awareness promoting youth participation in democratic process because many young people believed that for them to participate in anything they need to receive bribes and the blame is credited to political parties leaders who used to bribe young people to participate in the democratic processes especially during elections .
“As a youth organization working with young people we have discovered that there is still more work to be done in raising awareness promoting youth participation in democratic process because many young people believed that for them to participate in anything they need to receive bribes and the blame is credited to political parties leaders who used to bribe young people to participate in the democratic processes for example during by-elections last year there was low youth turnout of young people who were voting because they were not given anything as a bribe for them to practice their voting right ,”said Ndhlovu
Ndhlovu also said that young people needs to be included in democratic process there must be no barriers to participation regardless of their political affiliation because other youths have fear to participate in democratic processes and also the country must make sure that there is a closure of the gap between rural and urban youths in Zimbabwe so that everyone will have access to information as

ZOYP programs manager further said that there is need to educate both political parties leaders and citizens on the importance of all democratic processes to improve participation of citizen’s especially young people on these issues.
