The late former University of Zimbabwe senior Lecturer in the Department of Education Professor Boniface Chivore has been declared a Liberation Hero and will receive a state assisted Funeral,Zanu pf Secretary General Dr Obert Mpofu said in a press release.
Dr Chivore who died in an ambulance on his way to the hospital in Masvingo on Sunday afternoon has been honoured and recognised as a pioneer and key player in teacher education in Independent Zimbabwe, notably through the Zintec teacher Education program.
Before independence Professor Chivore played a key role in the war of Liberation as a youth in 1965.
During his stay in the UK, Dr Chivore was an active member of Zanu PF and became branch chairman leading in resource mobilisation. During the Lancaster House Conference Dr Chivore housed and hosted a number of Zanu PF luminaries in the UK.
Meanwhile Dr Mpofu said Dr Chivore will be buried at the Masvingo Provincial Heroes Acre.
He is survived by seven Children and 14 grandchildren.
