Kwekwe police launch manhunt for murder suspects

The police have launched a manhunt for three Kwekwe murder suspects. The murder cases happened on 26 September and 2 October 2023 respectively.

Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the two murder incidents which he said occurred in Redcliff and Zhombe under Kwekwe District.

“The 1st incident occurred on 26 September 2023 at Mzira Business Centre, Redcliff at 1800hrs. The suspect Brian Gondo and the victim Thabo Ncube both aged 17years had a misunderstanding.

“It is alleged Brian struck Thabo with a stone on the head and he fell unconscious. Following the intervention of the Police, Thabo was taken to hospital. His condition continued to deteriorate and he died on 03 October 2023 while in admission at Mpilo Hospital, Bulawayo,” said Insp. Mahoko.

In the second incident Inspector Mahoko said the victim Freeman Sibanda aged 19years was visited by two men alleged to be Courage and Learnmore Moyo aged 27 and 23 respectively.

“ They approached him on 02 October 2023 at his resident- Mazoya village under Chief Mtabeni accusing him of having stolen a cellphone. They then assaulted him all over the body using a stick, brick and booted feet. He passed away on the following day,” he said.

All three suspects in the two murder cases have not been arrested and we appeal for information on their whereabouts.

“May community leaders, church leaders and authorities in our society help in counselling their young ones on the importance of solving issues through dialogue,” Inspector Mahoko said.
