Police hunt for robbery, rape and murder suspects

An 85 year old man was fatally assaulted and killed after being attacked by a gang of robber who pounced at his Greenharm farm, Kwekwe on 16 January 2024 at around 2030 hours.

Facts gathered by the Zimbabwe Republic Police are that the now deceased Black Henry Karonga of Greenharm farm, Kwekwe was sleeping in his dining room with his other family members sleeping in other rooms when the intruders wearing face masks broke into the farm house.

Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the the robbers proceeded to the dining room and found Black Henry Karonga sleeping on the sofa.

“ One of them struck Karonga twice on the forehead and on the chest, killing him instantly.They then ransacked the whole house and took cash amounting to USD$65, an Itel P57 and Kgtel cellphones,” he said.

He said two of the men went to a room where two women where sleeping, tied them with electric cables and raped them. The gang went upstairs where they broke a safe and stole it’s contents. Exact things taken from the safe are yet to be established. The criminals then took car keys of the complainants’ white Nissan sedan motor vehicle which was parked in the yard and drove away.

The two female victims were referred to Kwekwe General Hospital for medication while the dead body was placed in the mortuary at the samel hospital..

“We are appealing to members of the public who might have information that can lead to the arrest of the culprits in this case to help us. Also, may members of the public be on the lookout for a white Nissan Sedan motor vehicle registration number AFO 6463,”said Mahoko.
