JIN YI hailed for contributing to Midlands GDP

Gweru’s Ferrochrome ore, Jin Yi Private Limited company on Thursday received an affectionate pat on the back from the government of Zimbabwe for making positive contributions in the Midlands Province’ gross domestic Product (GDP).
Speaking to the gathering, after the tour of the Company plant, Minister of state for provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube expressed pleasure to tour the local Ferrochrome entity.
“I feel greatly honoured to tour a major ferrochrome manufacturing company based in Gweru. As Midlands Province we appreciate Jin Yi Enterprise Pvt Limited’s contribution to the ferrochrome value chain in general and to the growth of our Midlands’ GDP in particular as we pursue an upper-middle income economy earlier than 2030 as envisioned by his Excellency President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency President Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa,”said Hon. Ncube.
The Minister of State, Ncube further hailed the company for its huge ferrochrome investment which he said marks a significant milestone achievement in the Second Republic’s strategic policy shift to open the economy to the private sector and to engage and re-engage with the International Community as partners in the national modernisation and industrial agenda as we journey towards leap frogging economic Development.
“Ladies and gentlemen, as you are aware JIN YI Enterprise is the third largest ferrochrome smelting company in the country with a total capacity of 80 000 tonnes per annum and currently operating at 76% capacity from the five furnaces it operates,” he said.
Honourable Ncube said the company is indeed a catalyst for Midlands Province’s economic growth and development as it contributes to the international ferrochrome value chain and employment creation as more than 1000 people including locals are currently gainfully employed by Jin Yi.
