AS INVICTUS ‘ MUKUYU -1 WELL PROVES A SUCCESS IN ZIMBABWE

Invictus Energy Limited is progressing at Mukuyu-1 well project in Zimbabwe’s Cabora Basa Basin.
Invictus Energy Limited is an independent up stream oil and gas company , which is headquartered in Parth Australia and has Offices in Harare Zimbabwe.
Invictus Energy commenced construction at the Mukuyu-1 well site in May. The Mukuyu Structure was estimated to contain 8.2 Tcf + 247 million barrels of conventional gas- condensate.
Managing Director Scott Macmillan said that the developments at Mukuyu-1 well are encouraging as they have proven a hydrocarbon system in the Cabora Basa Basin.
“Early indication in our Upper Angwa primary target are highly encouraging and have proven a conventional working hydrocarbon system in the Cabora Basa Basin ,which is an exciting development validating our sub surface model,” said Macmillan.
Furthermore, Macmillan cited the presence of elevated mud gas, fluorescence in the cutting elevated log while drilling resistivity is a positive sign .
“The presence of elevated mud gas readings, fluilorescence in the cuttings, elevated log while drilling resistivity and increasing background gas with depth is a positive sign as we progress through the Upper Angwa Alternation Member ,”he said.
Since it is work in progress several hundred metres will be drilled which will be followed by comprehensive wireline logging programme to evaluate results with the aim of confirming the presence of moveable hydrocarbons in multiple areas.
When Mukuyu -1 Well reaches total depth all zones of interest will be comprehensively evaluated through a planned wireline logging programme. This will lead to the identification of any hydrocarbon pay.
Challenges were faced during the drilling process as several loss zones were encountered in the Pebbly Arkose requiring remedial action to stabilise drilling fluid losses.
Meanwhile, future plans have been made for the project. A comprehensive wire line logging evaluation suite is planned to be acquired across the entire 8 and half hole section .This will help to provide detailed geological information in order to confirm the presence of moveable hydrocarbons.
