EUNIC Zimbabwe is set to host “Harmonies of Expression,” a unique collaborative project bringing together Zimbabwean and European artists to explore the critical intersection of art, community, and environmental science.
The project will culminate in a vibrant festival on May 10, 2025, at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Harare.
“Harmonies of Expression” aims to raise awareness about pressing issues surrounding climate change through diverse artistic collaborations.
International and local artists participating in the event will include photographer Eveline Gerritsen (Netherlands), known for her social impact storytelling; Zimbabwean artist Kombo Chapfika, who explores the evolution of African culture within modernity; Alessandra Nicola (Italy), an eco-social entrepreneur focused on sustainable waste management; and Tichaona Maledadi (Zimbabwe), a craftsman and environmental activist.
The festival is set to feature various other artists specializing in a wide range of artistic expressions. From dance performances by Soukaina (French Islands) to sustainable fashion designs by Ellen Rock (Great Britain) and Natalia Carrasco Rodriguez (Spain), the event promises a rich tapestry of creative approaches.
Musical performances will also feature prominently, with DJ Kolorz (Germany) blending German house and techno with local Zimbabwean sounds, and Bantu Spaceship showcasing their unique “New Jit Wave” style. Zimbabwean artists such as award-winning vegan chef Cola, multidisciplinary musician Nasibo and R&B musician Cherrie (Sweden) will also be present.
Together, these artists will collaborate across disciplines like fashion, music, food, and dance, creating impactful works that address climate change with a focus on pressing challenges such as water resources.
“Harmonies of Expression” is more than just an event but is designed to spark dialogue, encourage collaboration, and inspire action towards a more sustainable future. The festival on May 10, 2025, promises to be a powerful demonstration of how art can be a catalyst for change, uniting diverse voices to address a common global challenge.
