Gokwe 45th Independence Celebrations Development Projects Expedited

Gokwe, Zimbabwe – With the 45th Independence celebrations fast approaching, the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works has set an ambitious deadline of April 10, 2025 for the completiin of all construction projects at Nembudziya Mutora growth point.

The Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Hon. Engineer Benjamin Kabikira, recently visited the growth point to assess the progress of four key development projects.

During his visit, Hon Kabikira expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the Public Works teams on all four sites.

“Works are progressing very well. I’m pleased with the progress so far. The PW teams currently have two shifts per day and are planning to have another shift so that the completion of projects is expedited,” Deputy Minister Kabikira said.

He toured various project sites, including the Nembudziya Open Grounds, where three-step terraces for the stadium are under construction.

Additionally, preparations are underway for the pitch, changing rooms, and six ablution facilities.

Hon. Kabikira also visited the Nembudziya Government High School, which will host the independence celebration musical gala where five classroom blocks are nearing completion.

Other projects visited by the Deputy Minister include Nyamuroro High School, Nyamuroro Primary School, and Nyamuroro Vocational Training Centre where renovations of old buildings are being carried out and new hostels are under construction.

Nyamuroro High School will host a children’s party on April 17.

Hon Kabikira stressed on the importance of meeting the project deadline.

“The team on site promised that they will meet the target if there is no disruption in terms of material supply,” he said.

The development projects at Nembudziya Mutora Growth Point are expected to bring significant economic benefits to the local community.

Roads leading to and around the growth point are also under construction, and residents are hopeful that the improved infrastructure will attract more business and investment to the area.

This year’s national independence celebrations in Gokwe are historic, being the first of such magnitude held in the district.
