Gweru family pounced by six armed robbers

Six men armed with a pistol pounced on a family in Southview residential suburbs in Gweru and got away with cash and property worth US$24 300.
It is the state’s case that on 5 March 2024 at around 0010 hours, Antony Shanji (55) a husband to Blessing Shanji (49) and their two daughters were asleep in their bedrooms when six intruders force open the kitchen door and gained entry into their house, they threatened the family with a pistol, before tying their hands and legs using electric cables.
It is alleged that the suspects went on to search the house and took cash US$3005, two HP and one Lenovo laptops, two 55 inch television sets a Samsung and an LG led, ten new blankets and various cell phones.
In a press statement issued out by Zimbabwe Republic Police midlands province they noted that the loot was loaded into the family vehicle a black Toyota Rav and drove it away.
Zimbabwe republic police midlands province spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said they are appealing to anyone with information which can lead to recovery of the stolen property including the vehicle and subsequent arrest of the culprits to approach any nearest police station.
