Four more people have been arrested for stock theft after allegedly stealing 27 cattle in Gweru.
As police intensify the fight against stock theft in the country, a special operation has been activated which has seen the apprehension of four more suspects alleged to have stollen US$15 000 worth of cattle from Stains Farm in Gweru.

This comes barely a week after four other suspects were arrested in Lalapanzi, on the 28th of January.
Police Provincial Community Relations and Liaison Officer for the Midlands, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said three of the suspects are from Kwekwe while one, the gang leader and 24 year old ex-wife to the complainant, is from Gweru’s Ivene suburb.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands Province special operation against stock theft has accounted for four more suspects in connection with theft of 27 cattle at Stains Farm in Gweru.
“…The latest four suspects were arrested on 3 February 2023 during an investigation of a fresh case of theft of the 27 cattle.

“The four comprise of two males and two females and they are:
1. Yvonne Ndabazonke, a female, aged 24 of 26 Taskon road Ivene, Gweru.
2. Chido machingura, female, aged 18 years of Redclif, Kwekwe.
3. Nehemia Muza, a man, aged 70 years of Riverside B farm, Amatava, Kwekwe.
4. Shepherd Muza, a man, aged 43 years of Riverside B farm, Amatava, Kwekwe.
“It turned out that the gang leader is Yvonne Ndabazonke who is an ex-wife to complainant, Peter Tandari,” he said.
Allegations are that on the last day of January 2023, Ndabazonke and two other accomplices, Chido Machingura and another unidentified man, went to Stains Farm where they stole 27 cattle and drove them to Plot 16 Riverside B farm in Kwekwe.

In Kwekwe, the stolen herd was kept in the custody of Nehemia Muza while being herded by Shepherd Muza.
Inspector Mahoko went on to appeal to members of the Public to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspect who went with Ndabazonke to Stains Farm.

“We would like to thank members for the public for the supply of such helpful information which led to the arrest of the suspects. “Investigations are going on and we appeal for information about the outstanding 5th suspect who was involved during the theft at Stains Farm,” he said.
