Redcliff deputy Mayor Vincent Musiiwa said that every Zimbabwean citizen deserves good sanitation as this contributes to one’s health.
In an interview with this publication Musiiwa said that citizens have a right to good sanitation. He urged school officials, health facilities and business sectors to operate in clean spaces.
‘ Every citizen should have access to clean spaces. I urge all schools , health facilities and business sectors to operate in clean spaces. Toilets as well as eating areas should be clean always and clean water should be easy to access,’ he said.
‘ In Redcliff it is a good thing that schools and hospitals have boreholes thus clean water can be accessed for both drink and cleaning purposes,’ he added.
In a bid to assist the elderly people in Redcliff, Council is constructing a dining hall for Rutendo Old People ‘s home such that they have goof sanitation.
‘ As Redcliff we want to assist the elderly so that they have a clean place to eat. Because of their age they need clean spaces to live in. A dining hall will assist them to eat in a clean environment. We are also planning to put a television in the dining hall so that they have entertainment,’ he added.
Meanwhile Musiiwa said that the water challenges in Redcliff need to be dealt with and the only solution for them is to have a water treatment plant.
‘On water crisis the only solution is to have our own water treatment plant and be a water authority feasibility study is already in place and we are looking for a partner to construct the water treatment plant The water source will be Sebakwe dam,’ he said.
