In a milestone event, Honourable Owen Ncube, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Midlands Province, and MP for Gokwe Kana Constituency, commissioned a fleet of service vehicles and equipment for Kwekwe City Council.

“I feel honored to grace this occasion, commissioning equipment that will enhance service delivery and transform Kwekwe City,” said Hon. Ncube. “The procurement of this equipment using Council’s own revenue totaling over USD 600,000 is commendable, and I applaud Kwekwe City Council for its focus and results-oriented approach,” he said.

Hon. Ncube emphasized the significance of modernizing local authorities, aligning with President Mnangagwa’s vision for an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
“Kwekwe City is among the top-performing local authorities, driving Midlands Provincial GDP growth through investments in mining, construction, and tourism,” he added.

Regarding the city’s challenges, Hon. Ncube urged the community to work together to address drug and substance abuse, saying, “We must stand united against sabotage and confrontations with law enforcement agencies, especially as we prepare to host the SADC summit.”

Hon. Ncube commended Kwekwe City Council for its efforts, stating, “I declare the commissioned equipment officially handed over to Kwekwe City Council. Let us continue to work together towards modernization, industrialization, and community transformation.”

With the commissioned equipment, Kwekwe City is poised for greater heights, driving growth and prosperity for its residents.
