High Court Judge, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi has sentenced juvenile Tapiwa Makore Jnr’s two murderers to death by hanging.
Tapiwa Makore Snr (uncle) and Tafadzwa Shamba were given the ultimate sentence following investigations and trial spanning over three years, since year 2020, which unveiled that the two murdered the juvenile for ritual purposes.
Passing his judgement, Justice Mutevedzi said the two murdered the innocent boy for riches, to boost Makore Snr’s cabbage business, and showed no remorse for the evil act.
Despite Shamba having confessed and given detailed information on how they committed the murder, the two denied the allegations throughout the trial.
The Justice said the demon that led the two to commit the heineous cold blooded murder can only be neutralised by death.
“The demon which drove Tafadzwa Shamba and Tapiwa Makore to commit this murder is relentless and could not be stopped.
“It can only be neutralised by death.
“Our hands are therefore bound, and accordingly, it is directed that accused persons shall be returned to custody and that the sentence of death be executed upon each of them according to law,” said Justice Mutevedzi, sealing the two’s tragic fate.
Tapiwa Makore Jnr was murdered and cut into pieces in 2020 in an incident that left the nation shocked.
His body was found in bits and pieces but his head was never recovered.
The boy’s torso was discovered being eaten by dogs the following morning after the murder while other body parts were discovered dumped in a toilet.
With the head missing, only the torso and other parts were buried.
