‘Darts sport is a hub for community engagement’

Kwekwe District Darts Association chairperson Tirivaviri Nyengera said that darts in Kwekwe have become a hub for community development.
In an interview with this publication ,Nyengera said that there is improvement in terms of numbers for those joining the Darts team.
“ The people are embracing the sport . In 2022 there was improvement of darts players .Darts is now a hub for community engagement .The Kwekwe Darts team comprises of the employed , self employed and the non employed Regardless of such differences the sport manages to unite different people from different backgrounds,’ said Nyengera.
“ At the moment in Kwekwe we have about 12 clubs and each team comprises of 10 players. This means that in our district we have about 120 players in total. There are some two clubs who are willing to join this season and that shows that the sport is gaining prominence,’ he said.
Nyengera also said that they want to be competitive so that the sport will not remain social only but they want to push so as to participate in the national tournaments .
“ Darts sports in Kwekwe has been social all this while and for this year we would like to be competitive so that we also participate in the national tournaments . For this year we have made plans to train the players and also to seek sponsorship. Covid 19 pandemic affected us but we want to achieve more this year,” he said.
Meanwhile Nyengera said that the challenge with some of the players is that they cannot finance themselves hence that at times drags them back
