A devastating incident in Shurugwi, Zimbabwe, has left a 26-year-old woman in critical condition after her boyfriend, Cleto Nyakareta, 28, brutally stabbed her in a fit of rage.
According to Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the attack was sparked by a dispute over infidelity.
“Allegations are that Cleto Nyakareta (28) of Sebanga Park Shurugwi returned home from Wanderer Mine where he works as an artisanal miner and did not find his girlfriend whom he stays with. He later on located her at Mambowa Business Centre drinking beer with an unknown male adult whom she claimed to be her new boyfriend. This did not go down well with the suspect resulting in a misunderstanding between them which led to the suspect being struck on the head by an empty beer bottle,” Inspector Mahoko said.
Mahoko said police promptly arrested Nyakareta and transported him to the hospital for medical attention. He further put it that. The woman remains in critical condition, fighting for her life. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the importance of addressing relationship conflicts peacefully.
The police spokesperson, Mahoko urged members of the public to seek help and support when faced with disputes, rather than resorting to violence. The incident in Shurugwi highlights the need for increased awareness and support services for victims of domestic violence.
