Concern over surge in livestock theft

Midlands province has been facing problems with livestock rustlers who have been terrorizing midlands province this year which has resulted in a man haunt of livestock thieves by midlands ZRP early this year.

During an interview with this reporter councilor Trainer Jones Shindi of Ward three Zibagwe Rural District Council ,Redcliff constituency said that his area is facing severe livestock theft from thieves he called habitual thieves according to him it has become their habit of stealing livestock from people because they are not given harsh sentence .

Councilor Shindi said that habitual criminals must receive harsh sentence as to stop them from causing havoc in his area and also in midlands province as a whole
“Farmers in my area are losing their livestock especially donkeys, goats and fowls to well-known thieves who were once arrested and given lenient sentencing ranging from community service to six months in jail” said Shindi

Shindi further said that these thieves needs to be arrested and given some years in prisons because when they are released from jail they came back with new theft tactics and this is under developing his area as livestock rearing is part of development in his area .
Councilor Shindi showed his concern over this issue as he said that he is more concerned about the development of his area he also said that these thieves also steal fowls from women who are doing projects in his area.
