Flywell Chiminya, a Master Sergeant and church elder, has been granted bail by Gweru Magistrate Princess Tanyanyiwa after being accused of defrauding two individuals in a car import scheme. Chiminya, who was arrested and charged with fraud, was granted $200 bail and remanded to July 23.
His bail conditions include paying the bail amount through the Gweru Clerk of Court, remaining at his residence at Manyame Airbase in Harare, not interfering with witnesses or investigations, surrendering his passport, and reporting to the nearest police station every Friday.

The state and investigating officer, Detective Onai Amido, had initially opposed the bail application, citing Chiminya’s risk of flight and likelihood of absconding from court. However, the court ultimately granted bail after a protracted hearing.
Chiminya, who is also a caterer at Josiah Tungamirai Airbase, allegedly defrauded Beatrice Matafa and Warren Rangai of $8,365 in a car import deal. He failed to facilitate the purchase of vehicles through a Be Forward agent and presented fake papers to the victims, leading to his arrest.
