Citizen Coalition for Change activists Nkosilathi Moyo and Albert Marashe who were convicted of defiling Section 7 of the maintenance of peace and order Act (MOPA) were granted $300USD Bail
Nkosilathi Emmanuel Moyo (36) and Albert Marashe (40) who were arrested in July this year after being accused of leading an unsanctioned procession in Mbizo town were granted a bail on the 18th of September.
The duo were convicted of defiling Section 7 of the maintenance of peace and order Act (MOPA).
Moyo and Marashe appeared before the Magistrates Court on 15 September 2023 and they were convicted guilty of leading an unsanctioned procession in Mbizo which was attended by 60 people, wearing CCC regalia.
On the 18th of September the duo appeared before the Magistrate Mildred Matuvi at kwekwe Magistrate court where they were granted a bail of $300USD or to serve three months imprisonment if they failed to provide their bail on the 18th of October.
Moyo and Marashe were given a period of one month to provide their bail, after Shephard T Farai their lawyer pleaded with the court to give them a period of time to raise money since the duo told the court that they had no serving in their names and Moyo also told the court that he is into informal business and he survived from hand to mouth.
During Moyo and Marashe’s Judgment day Kwekwe Magistrate court was surrounded by police riot.
