…A Classical real life literary artefact, glowingly told in the first person narrative
BY Harry Taruva
A young Eunor Sithole(now Eunor Guti) had to leave a well paying nursing job in Rhodesia( now Zimbabwe) and go into full time Ministry when she got married to Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti, founder of Zaoga Fifmi. “
Dr. Eunor Guti is an amazing woman who grew up in colonial and racist Rhodesia ( now Zimbabwe), born from a humble background but would not allow her background to limit her potential. She would go on to defy her humble background to become one of the most influential women evangelists in Zimbabwe and Africa as a whole impacting millions of lives.
Being the role model that she is, Dr Eunor Guti decided package her life story in this latest masterpiece, ” Eunor Guti ” A memoir of Faith and Service.
In an interview at the launch the book Dr Guti said that she was inspired to write the story of her life after realising that
”There are some young girls out there l have interacted with who have expressed their strong desire to emulate what l do. ln the book l have written on a lot of issues which are going motivate the youths,” Dr Guti said.
She said that she has heard expressions from especially young girls who say that they want to be like her.
”They say that they want to behave, dress, speak and do a lot of things emulating me.l feel that the book has provided me an opportunity to tell the youths the journey l have travelled to where l am now,” she said.
Being Eunor is a classical literary artefact where Mama Guti glowingly tells the story of her life in the first person narrative.
There was no better person to give an insight into this book than Celebrated Writer, publisher and Auto Biographer, Namibia based Samuel Mayinoti. In a exclusive interview with Kwedu News after the book launch, Mr Mayinoti explains
” This book is thematic with the main theme being the experiences of Dr Eunor Guti as wife and co-worker to Arch Bishop Guti, a personality who fits the larger than life character label…few wives to prominent men of God have shared their personal lives the way she did in this book.”
The book chronicles the travails of a young Eunor growing up in colonial Rhodesia, Activity as a church youth leader, adjusting to and maintaining marriage, parenthood, evangelism, church planting, women’s Ministries, setbacks and ministry turbulence.
Perhaps one of the most touching episodes in this book is when Dr Eunor Guti vividly shares emotional episodes in her life like surviving assassination attempts, her decision to trace back those people she had wronged, apologise and pay restitution to those she owed when she received Christ Jesus.
” The book is not only inspiring but informing and educating..story shared candidly with Professor Guti not projecting herself as perfect but as someone striving to please God and God granting grace youths can relate…and likely be inspired to emulate her in seeking God and eschew evil” Mr Mayinoti said
A writing collaborator and professional writer and publisher Mr Mayinoti who is the publisher of the book said.
“It’s a must read not only for women and girls, but everyone. Her book reflects themes that are relatable, universal and timeless.
In reading the book, one can easily see that what Mai Guti went through maybe the life of one’s daughter, or one’s mother. It is the story of womanhood, the story of humanity, the story of Africa and above all the story of what God can do through an otherwise ordinary person.”
Dr Eunor Guti’ s book was launched in Harare last Saturday at a colorful ceremony at the Harare International conference centre.Zimbabwe Millionaire Dr Shingi Mutasa was the guest of honour.
A must read indeed
