African Gospel music ensemble, Afripraise delivered a stellar performance on Saturday at the Ezekiel Guti Convention Centre in Sydney and proved that the Afripraise trademark is an international treasure.

The show on Saturday night was ace. It was a night of bliss that many Australia Gospel music fans will take days talking about. Afripraise showed that there was a bloom for Gospel music talent among African communities in Australia and beyond.

Headlined by popular ” Ndiri Mweya ” hit song makers, ZimPraise, the line up was a rich mix of both local and international flavor. The artists included Pastor Rojer, Nnyasha, Minister Tega, Psalmist Rose, Loveness Bere, Steady, Minister Rumbie, Pastors Ellard and Sharon Cherayi, Kuda Mutsvene and Takesure Zamar Ncube. The turnout was huge. That could explain the 10 hours non -stop performance. And the fans loved it. They sang along , luring the musicians to elongate their act. The musicians obliged and appreciated.

” Ndiri Mweya, ndiri Mweya ” was one of the popular chants from the crowd in a rhythmic call that urged the performers to deliver more of their favourite songs. No musician could have resisted such love from the fans.It was telepathic.

Pastors Ellard and Sharon Cherayi were class as they sent the crowd wild with their favourite hymns. Kuda Mutsvene was mesmerising and Takesure Zamar Ncube was at his usual best and stunned the revellers as he entered and rocked the stage with the popular ” Kuregerera in Advance .”

Kudos to the tireless and energetic Zimpraise band. The crew strummed the guitar, shot the saxophone, and hit the drum like noone’s business. They were simply upto their game.

Before the show, word on the street was the question..what if some of the Afripraise singers fail to turn up? Indeed, some headline names like Jabu Hlongwane, Annatoria ,and Nozipho Phiri did not show up. But that didnot dampen the mood of the party. The musos lived upto the billing and didnot disappoint. What Afripraise did at the EGCC will earn them their stripes and respect from a lot that witnessed their act.

Zimpraise founder Joseph Madziyire and his local organising team were given their flowers for a tireless effort in organising the gig. Addressing the crowd, Madziyire cited the enormous challenges faced in putting the show together and thanked their stakeholders and partners Nyaradzo Group and Zb Bank for their efforts.

” It’s all about Jesus and next year it’s gona be bigger..the fight we have had to have this show come to Australia..Though we faced a few challenges to put this show together…..a number of artists we thought are gonna be here tonight couldn’t make it because their visas were delayed. ” Madziyire said referencing in particular to crowd favourite Annatoria among those who couldn’t make it.
He assured revellers that next year they would bring more of their favourite artists while also acknowledging the wealth of local talent at the show.
