Mudenda , Chinomona lead Zimbabwean Delegation to 150th IPU Assembly

Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Advocate Jacob Mudenda, and President of the Senate, Hon. Mabel Memory Chinomona, arrived in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

They are set to participate in the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly and Related Meetings, scheduled to take place from April 4 to 9, 2025.

This prestigious gathering brings together representatives from 181 parliaments worldwide. The Zimbabwean delegation, comprising Members of Parliament who are the country’s standing delegates to the IPU, will engage in various meetings and discussions.

The SADC Parliamentary Forum geo-political meeting of SADC Parliaments kicked off proceedings for the Zimbabwean delegation.

This meeting will focus on crucial items on the agenda of the 150th IPU Assembly, including the adoption of an Emergency Item. The delegation will also receive feedback from Africa’s representatives on the IPU Executive Committee, notably from the Rt Hon. Nelly Mutti, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia.

The 150th IPU Assembly provides a platform for parliamentarians to discuss pressing global issues, share experiences, and collaborate on solutions.

As Zimbabwe participates in this significant event, the country’s parliamentarians are expected to engage in meaningful discussions and contribute to the global parliamentary dialogue
